English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)

English Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) classes provide the opportunity for participants to work with trained teachers to grow their English language skills. Classes teach essentials of the language and help individuals improve in areas such as writing, speaking and reading comprehension. Participants are able to utilize these language skills at work, home and in the community. Participants also learn about St. Louis and American culture while in a supportive environment.

ESOL classes are typically held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Holidays and weather-related cancellations are determined by St. Louis Public Schools.

Application Process

Participants must complete 12 hours of orientation, which includes testing and completing the necessary forms to be enrolled as regular students. Orientation sessions are monthly. For more information, please contact Emily Stuart, Director of Family Development Services, at or (314) 260-6380.
